What is family therapy

Family problems are natural. There is a bad atmosphere at home or things are even flying. Sometimes everything gets too much for you, you can no longer bear the constant arguments in your family and you feel overwhelmed and a little unloved and misunderstood. Sometimes you just want to give up. In every family there are difficulties from time to time that require family members to be considerate, understanding and willing to listen to each other.

There are serious burdens in your family, e.g. illness, need for care, alcohol abuse, depression, the exclusion of a family member, which also affect you as a family member and which you would like to work through.

Other topics that can arise and be burdensome:

  • You are currently dealing with death, grief, divorce or similar in your family. You would like to better support your children during this phase.

  • There are frequent arguments and serious conflicts in your family in which you would like to find your position.

  • You would like to improve your relationship with your parents or siblings.

  • How should you deal with your child’s difficulties at school?

  • There have been problems in your partnership recently. Is your child perhaps suffering from this?

  • You have some family members with behavioral patterns that are difficult to understand, and this has been going on for generations.

  • Your parents-in-law interfere in your life and in the upbringing of your child.

  • Your parents do not understand you and basically want to make you a different person.

  • You would like to work through difficult events, secrets or taboos in your family history.

  • Your family has given you inner patterns and beliefs that still inhibit you today or burden you and that are passed on as a problem in your partnership/parenthood.

If you are concerned about questions like these, it is advisable to seek family counseling or family therapy in order to solve the challenges you are facing.
